The focus session on WNMBR was led by Paola Fontanella, United Nations University, on 14 September 2022. It brought together experts from mountain biosphere reserves and beyond, including Carolina Adler, Sebastian Boret Penmellen, Maria Cardenas, Günter Köck, Martin Price, Thomas Schaaf, Stefan Schneiderbauer and James Thornton.
The 21st Meeting of the Council of Managers of the Spanish Network of Biosphere Reserves took place in September 2022 and the Valles de Omaña y Luna Biosphere Reserve had the opportunity of presenting the WNMBR.
The new technical secretariat of the World Network of Mountain Biosphere Reserves has been announced. The joint technical secretariat is managed by the Research Centre for Eco-Environmental Sciences of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (China) and the Valles de Omaña y Luna Biosphere Reserve (Spain).The technical secretariat coordinate the WNMBR in cooperation with the UNESCO MAB Programme Secretariat.
