Chebaling Biosphere Reserve in China launches ambitious volunteer project
The Chebaling Biosphere Reserve has initiated a comprehensive volunteer project that adheres strictly to the guiding principles of the UNESCO Man and the Biosphere (MAB) Programme Seville Strategy and Lima Action Plan. This initiative is dedicated to building extensive and stable partnerships aimed at attracting widespread participation, particularly from the younger generation, in the management and development of the reserve.
The World Network of Mountain Biosphere Reserves holds online meeting with broad global participation
On June 26th, we held a new online meeting of the World Network of Mountain Biosphere Reserves, open to its members and interested individuals and organizations, in which 87 people participated, representing Biosphere Reserves from the five continents.
The World Network of Mountain Biosphere Reserves meets in China for its first face-to-face seminar.
The Valles de Omaña and Luna Biosphere Reserve in León, together with the Eco-Environmental Research Center of China, in their capacity as joint technical secretariat of the World Network of Mountain Biosphere Reserves, organized the first in-person meeting of the World Network of Mountain Biosphere Reserves from September 18 to 22, 2023, in Dujiangyan, Sichuan, China. The event brought together 60 participants, including representatives from Mountain Biosphere Reserves, related organizations, experts, and academics from 17 countries across five continents.
The World Network of Mountain Biosphere Reserves is unveiled at the 35th Meeting of the International Coordinating Council of the Man and the Biosphere Programme
Between June 11th and 14th, the Valles de Omaña y Luna Biosphere Reserve, in its role as the technical secretariat of the World Network of Mountain Biosphere Reserves (WNMBR), had the honor of attending the meeting convened by the Man and the Biosphere Programme (MAB) Office and the 34 Member States that make up the International Coordinating Council (ICC) of UNESCO’s MAB, at its headquarters in Paris.
The World Network of Mountain Biosphere Reserves presents its roadmap for the next two years
On May 24, the third online meeting of the WNMBR took place, where the roadmap of this network for the next two years was shared. More than 120 people from at least 15 countries, representatives of the 5 continents, participated in the meeting, which was inaugurated by María Rosa Cárdenas on behalf of the international secretariat of the UNESCO MaB Program.
Mountain biosphere reserves in a new era for resilient socio-ecological systems
The Valles de Omaña y Luna Biosphere Reserve in Spain was able to host the network’s first face-to-face meeting from 7 to 11 March in a post-COVID world.
First WNMBR collaboration with Chinese students
The first phases of the conception of the WNMBR and its website counted with the active collaboration of the Chinese students Qin Ye, Yang Xinmiao and Zhang Xuanying.
The three students supported the work of the WNMBR in the framework of an educational collaboration agreement.
