Wudalianchi, situated in Heilongjiang Province, China, is a unique volcanic area with active volcanism and a diverse ecology. It stands out internationally as an example of an active monogenetic volcanic field within a continental plate. Notably, it facilitates research on ongoing species adaptation and the development of biotic communities through the mixing of species from various ecoregions. The reserve spans 1060 square kilometers, featuring diverse habitats and abundant species, contributing significantly to the Amur/Heilong river basin’s conservation and fostering new communities amid ecological transitions.
