Terres de l’Ebre (Spain)
The Terres de l’Ebre biosphere reserve is located in northeastern Spain and covers the southernmost counties of Catalonia: Baix Ebre, Montsià, Ribera d’Ebre and Terra Alta. Mountains, valleys with alluvial deposits from the Ebro river basin, sandy plains, marshes and a delta, characterize a unique yet diverse landscape.
Terres de l’Ebre includes large relief formations surrounded by steep slopes, plateaus, and the largest river in the peninsula, which at its mouth forms the Ebre Delta, one of the most important wetlands in the western Mediterranean.
