Member of Mountain Biosphere
Terras do Miño (Spain)
The biosphere reserve is delimited for the most part by the upper basin of the Miño River, which is a predominantly horizontal terrain. The northern mountainous area (SAC Sierra del Xistral) includes an important mountain wetlands composed of humid heaths, high peatlands, and covered peatlands. The river sections (SAC Parga-Ladra-Támoga) are probably the best representation of alluvial and gallery forests of the north of the Iberian Peninsula, and along with the territory’s wetlands, they support a rich and nourished diversity of species.
