Isle of Man (Isle of Man)
The Island has two main blocks of hill land, the central and the southerm hills, rising to 620m above sea level on Snaefell, its highest point. The Biosphere extends out 22km into the Irish Sea and encompasses all of the Isle of Man’s territorial waters. The sea bed contains rich and varied biodiversity, including maerl, seagrass beds and very diverse horse mussel reefs. Other species od interest include hen harrier, red-billed chough, Risso’s dolphin, basking shark and Isle of Man cabbage, and there is a local heritage sheep breed, the Manx Loughtan.
