The Gouraya Biosphere Reserve is located on the Mediterranean coast; north of Algeria. It is attached to the domain of the Tellian chains and belongs to the Kabyle coastal chains which constitute the limestone chains.
Covering an area of 29 008 ha, the territory of the RB of Gouraya extends over rocky massifs, among others that of Gouraya (672 m) and Toudja (1,317 m) offering Karst land (sites for the practice of caving), an urban wetland “Lac Mézaia” and a Marine Protected Area.
