Ecosystem restoration in the Central Volcanic Mountain Range (Costa Rica)
Forest Restoration Planning in Costa Rica aims to balance landscape connectivity and the provision of ecosystem services with sustainable development. The study was carried out in the area of the Central Volcanic Talamanca Biological Corridor.
On 1 December 2023, within the Montes del Aguacate Biological Corridor, the National Alliance of Rivers and Watersheds of Costa Rica, through its ecosystem restoration action line, organised a reforestation day at the San Pedro River Citizen Water Observatory. The event was supported by ASODULCE Ecological Sugar Mill, which uses hydropower in its cane sugar production process. Native trees were planted along the banks of the San Pedro River, in La Paz de San Ramón.
