Citizen Science for Conservation: Biodiversity Monitoring in the Cordillera Volcanica Central Biosphere Reserve
This project is based on the objectives, strategies and actions established in the Cordillera Volcánica Central Biosphere Reserve Management Plan 2024-2030 and seeks to promote the conservation of the biodiversity and ecosystems of the CVCBR through scientific research, education and the active participation of local communities.
The project incorporates a robust and widely used technology platform for citizen science, contributing data to the Global Biodiversity Information System, supported by the National Commission for Biodiversity Management.
Objective 1: Conserve biodiversity and the contributions of nature
- Specific Objective 1.2: Conserve and value the biological and cultural diversity of the RBCVC.
Strategy 1: Conservation of biodiversity and ecosystem services.
Key actions:
- Conduct comprehensive inventories and surveys of the flora, fauna, ecosystems and ecosystem services of the CVCBR, with emphasis on endemic, threatened and socioeconomically important species.
- Establish a comprehensive monitoring system for biodiversity and ecosystems.
- Promote the exchange of experiences, knowledge and best practices for biodiversity conservation.
